It seems that many people contact us inquiring about the
same topics or have the same questions. As a result, we
have compiled a short list of Frequently Asked Questions
and Answers in order to further facilitate your free to
air experience.
What is Free to Air?
Free to Air satellite broadcasts are readily
available across the world with hundreds of different
channels for your viewing pleasure. There are no monthly
fees and there is a plentiful amount of different
options which vary between ethnicities and languages.
This technology differs from regular satellite
television because the signals are available without any
subscription, and are not encrypted, however wide open
the way television was meant to be.
What channels will I be able to watch?
There are hundreds of both local and international
free to air
satellite signals which you can receive using a free to
air receiver. Channels are not scrambled and are encoded
in MPEG2 format. You can find a listing of available
free to air channels at the
Lyngsat
web site.
Will it work with my existing
satellite dish?
Any standard round eighteen to twenty inch dish will
work just fine. You will be able to receive many popular
North American signals with it. Satellite dishes that
aren't standard like the 3LNB dish will not work because
of their integrated switches.
What size satellite dish will work?
You can use any standard size satellite dish,
however in "fringe" areas like Northern Mexico or
Southern Canada a larger satellite dish is recommended.
How do I find a signal broadcast?
Depending on what type of programming you wish to
watch, there are different satellite broadcasts to suit
your needs. Refer to the
Lyngsat
site for a list of available broadcasts in your area and
then align your satellite dish with the correct signal
and you'll be watching television in no time.
Do your receivers pick up C-Band broadcasts?
Our receivers will pick up C-Band and KU-Band
broadcasts, however a larger satellite dish may be
required depending on the signal you wish to receive.
How can I ensure optimal signal quality?
The easiest way to get the best signal possible is
by purchasing a portable satellite signal finder device
which will assist you in pointing your free to air satellite dish
towards the right coordinates.
What do I need to have two receivers working
simutaniously?
You need to make sure that your satellite dish has a
Dual LNB. If you do not already have a Dual LNB, you can
easily replace your existing LNB with one that has two
receiver outputs. If you have more than two receivers,
you'll need to get a multi switch device which allows
for multiple free to air receivers.
I own two receivers and more than one satellite dish.
How can I make it all work together?
First ensure that each satellite dish has a Dual LNB
and is connected to a multi switch. You'll also require
a Diseqc Switch for each free to air satellite receiver you have.
Can a diplexer be used to consolidate both my local
channels and satellite signal?
You will need two diplexers: one to consolidate the
signal outside your home, and one to separate those
signals once they are inside your home. Most multi
switches have an integrated diplexer built in.
What is your return procedure if the unit I received
is defective?
If your order is delivered and the product you
receive happens to be defective, please contact us to
arrange for an immediate replacement. Rest assured
however, all products are testing therefore the defect
rate is very low.
Do I need to purchase a Diseqc Switch or Update
Cable?
You don't need to purchase a Diseqc Switch or Update
Cable because both are included with every receiver
purchase made on this web site.
Where are your orders shipped from?
Orders are shipped daily from our office in upstate
New York via UPS courier. You will never have to worry
about customs or duties whatsoever. For more information
visit our Shipping page
today. Of course, shipping is provided to you at no
extra cost.
How many televisions can I watch using one satellite
dish?
That answer all depends on the type of Diseqc Switch
you are using. You can connect your satellite dish to as
many televisions as your Diseqc Switch allows for,
however keep in mind that you'll need an extra free to
air receiver
for each additional television if you want to watch
different shows in different rooms.
Should I buy a receiver for each television in my home?
If you wish to watch different programming on each
television, you will be required to purchase an
additional free to air satellite receiver per television set.
Is this product really legit?
Free to Air Satellite is a completely legal system which
allows you to receive open broadcasts which are meant to
be viewed without any subscription or monthly fees
associated. There are no legal implications at all.

out our COMBOS page where you
can find a good receiver as well as a great deal all
in one. We recommend the Sonicview 4000 as an affordable
and versatile box for everyone.
What do I need for a complete free to air system?
Most important you'll need a good cardless receiver,
but you'll also need a Diseqc Switch (included free with
all receivers), an update cable (included free with all
receivers), a satellite dish (with an additional LNB for
each signal you wish to receive), and standard
audio/video wiring. You'll also probably need a source
to provide you with updated files for your receiver.
